A number of articles or papers have been written to share some
the stories and history of Grant Grade School. There are also
copies of the Grant Highlights (student newspaper) and Alumni News. Access them

a Stroll Through the Park, Stop at the Old School Site --
Across Ivory Street to the east was Grant Park which was two blocks
long. On the south side of the Park, along Tenth Avenue,
was a sidewalk. The street was closed and it became a part of
new Grant Park. But the old sidewalk is still there and used
sidewalk. So as we walk down that old sidewalk, we have many
memories. As we look over the area of the old park and
the past, each person would have unique, special memories.
walk takes us to the closed Ivory Street, now a parking lot, to the
site of the old school. What memories…
street from the school and the park there were many homes where some of
our friends lived. On the north side of 11th Avenue the homes
also gone. All the land is now the new Grant Park from Arthur
Perry. So we walk and remember and share memories.
11th Avenue between Ivory and Arthur was a circular park so that cars
drove by on the right side around the circle park going either east or
west. Many didn’t know the name. It was
Circle/Park. Now you drive each way on the south side of the
that now is a part of the new Grant Park.
our Teachers --
This article emphasizes the importance of the
teachers that touched our
lives and encouraged us in our studies during our years at Grant Grade
School. We have
many stories and many
memories that we want to share with Grant Grade School classmates. We express our gratitude
and our thanks as we
remember our teachers.
